“As a large agricultural cooperative we have the duty to participate and give our contribution in the fight against the effects of climate change on our lands”,
stated Carlo Dalmonte, President of Caviro Group, at the second MEDlab in Romagna appointment, a laboratory organized by Edmund Mach Foundation with the support of Caviro.
The event
The laboratory was held online on Friday, November 27th and is part of the actions promoted by the MEDCLIV network (Mediterranean Climate Vine and Wine Ecosystem), involving actors from the world of research and business from six European Countries which hold a large part of the Mediterranean vineyard production: Cyprus, Slovenia, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal.
The objective of MEDCLIV (and therefore also of MEDlab in Romagna) is to build networks, on a national or subnational basis, sharing ideas, solutions and best practices to address the effects of climate change in the wine-growing sector in the European Mediterranean.

Even in the recent meeting agronomists, oenologists, managers and representatives from the world of research and business shared opinions on several thematic dialogue tablesdedicated to innovation, sustainability and the climate.
The approach was that of co-design, a useful tool for building effective shared practices.
Outcome of the Works
The final greetings were entrusted to Emanuele Eccel of the Edmund Mach Foundation and to the host Carlo Dalmonte, who concluded:
“Caviro strongly believes in research institutions and in the world of researchers. This is why we decided to participate in this important international project, putting our best efforts and fulfilling our role: to collect the contributions of the many AG businesses that we represent and give them a voice. The battle against climate change and to support economic, social and environmental sustainability represent our future, the future of our industry and our territories”.
The MEDCLIV project is funded by EIT Climate-KIC. The project leader is the Edmund Mach Foundation of San Michele all’Adige (Trento, Italy). Another Italian partner, together with the Caviro Group, is the Institute for BioEconomy (IBE) of the CNR – Italian National Research Centre, Bologna office.
